A Quatern
A chapter in the book Thirty (hopefully) Poems for April
How Quickly?
by Debra White
How quickly Monday comes around,
at least, that’s what I’ve always found.
The working week just dawdles by
whilst weekends race and rush and fly.
Efficiently and without sound,
how quickly Monday comes around,
all business-like and good-to-go,
not caring that I’m crying, ‘No!’
But time won’t pause for any man,
it’s tick-tocked since the world began.
How quickly Monday comes around.
The weekend’s not got off the ground.
Now Sunday bed-time looms once more
like all the others gone before -
It never ceases to astound
how quickly Monday comes around.
