The Ending of a Family
Two Goodbyes
by LoAnn Beery
The author has placed a warning on this post for language.Just go on out. Don't turn around, giving me that sickening sad look...as if you give a damn. You really are something. You honestly think that you can take my life, destroy it, and look sad about doing it?
Go on and meet him. Go tell him that you have told me everything. Tell him he no longer has to do the dirty work. You did it for him. You took it upon yourself to tell me what the freaking hell has been going on for years...and now you have finished. Did you really just say that you two were trying to think of a way to let me down easy? Really? What a joke. There is no easy. Please. Do me a favor. Go away. Now. Even your voice sickens me.
Tell him I want to talk to him...now. Tell him he has two hours to show up. Tell him if he doesn't come, he can find his belongings in the front yard. They will not be bagged.
And you...you can go straight to hell.
Oh, and your earrings will be in the front yard, too. Those little diamonds he bought you might be hard to find, but he can help you. It will be about the money for him.
Tell him he has two hours.
Don't you ever knock on my door again.
You are done here. Get out.
Well, I see you got my message. She didn't waste time giving you my directive. Not once, in almost fifty years, did you respond in a timely fashion. Centrally located on the floor, you will find most of your closet's content. The trash bag beneath the window holds your dresser drawer content. You can take your belongings from the garage, but do not take even a screw driver that isn't yours. The earrings she left on our bedside table are somewhere out in the front yard. The notes, cards, and various forms of communication I found in your sock drawer can be found beneath our paper shredder...They are not in their original states.(I felt like tidying up.)
The kids said to tell you they would call you soon, and want to know if this means we won't all be taking that trip we scheduled to Disney World. I'll let you handle that.
Trust and believe that I have much to say to you. Also, know that my heart is broken. I cannot be held responsible for anything I might do or say in our near future. I suggest that you keep this in mind.
I have honestly never hated anyone in my life. Know that this has changed.I am not proud of this, but it is my truth. Just keep her away from me.If you decide to stay together, NEVER is she to be a part of our gatherings. I won't be forced to endure her presence for the family.
I know how long this has been going on. I know if she cheated on her husband, she will cheat on you. I know I do not deserve this. Quit trying to hug me. Those days are over. Take your sympathetic tears and your puppy-dog eyes to someone who thinks that is still cute. That is not your present wife.
You are done here. Get out. The locks have been changed, so you have one shot at getting your things. Please know this one last thing: I love you and I cannot believe you have ended our family, and thought this would be without consequences. You actually thought because I love you, that I would quietly go away?
Perhaps you should think again.
