LOOKING BACK and remembering...

Starless Corners...

by Eric Langford2

T'was on a dark and sultry night
I happened on a starless corner,
and never did I see a sight
more amorous, by an ardent suitor.

When I of so substantial years
recalled a likewise bawdy scene,
half a century before
down 'Littlemoor' amongst the green.

He, of youthful years and strong
and she a maiden sweet and true,
he promised her his lifelong years
she gave herself, love did ensue.

I paused, but for a second glance
thought I may learn some new technique,
but realised that age-old way
the only way to loves mystique.

But silver hair dulls many senses
and creaking bones don't help at all,
my specs were in my other pocket
which told me I was in my 'fall'.

Now on my own in sheltered dwelling
with sepia evidence all around,
I sit remembering starless corners
when she accepted my wedding band......2pp

Do we all remember romantic interludes ? I certainly DO..
