A man of God.

Golden calf

by Willie P. Smith

It's not hard to understand,
God's disappointment in the species, man.

He sent his commandments for us to follow,
To some, the words were hollow.

Moses from Sinai with the commandments in hand,
Saw a sight he could not stand.

A man named Aaron, at the people's request,
Made them a graven image of a golden calf.

They had lost faith in God, Moses could see,
He said to the people, "Come stand by me."

Three thousand men of Israel, In number about half,
Lost their lives, for worshiping the golden calf.
