A cat chasing shadows
Shadow
by Kahlani
One balmy spring morning, a Russian blue cat named Shadow sat patiently waiting by the window. His eyes were laser-focused on the gum tree outside. Suddenly, the leaves started shaking. Shadow shrewdly watched the sun’s reflection, his wet nose smearing the glass.
Then it appeared; a bird's silhouette flashing across the streak of sunlight on the carpet. It dove right into the center of the light, then swooped back again. Shadow jumped up, pouncing on the silhouette every time it flew across the streak of light.
Poor Shadow, no matter how many times he “captured” the bird, it got away.
