The House That Grandpa Built

by Cedar

The homeplace is alive again,
It's over one hundred years old.
It has withstood many bad storms,
with winds that blew bitter cold

Things changed as the years went by
and those still living has moved away.
Grandpa's homeplace stood empty,
no longer filled with children at play

I would return every now and then,
the house and land were left to me
Each time I pulled in the driveway,
I knew this is where I wanted to be

We remodeled and live there now,
at the place where my roots began
My heart is filled with happiness,
to hear laughter there once again

Each room is filled with memories,
there's no place that I'd rather be
My parents shared their  love here
and I pray that will happen for me.

The house is full of life once more
and never again will it stand alone
That old saying is certainly true,
"there is no place like home."
