Instant elavation!
Puff Adder Alley
by persevere
Above is Devil's Peak
Below, the Atlantic
Taking a walk
No need to talk
Beloved canine
Tows the line
Husband and me
Together make three
He ahead
With steady tread
Me in the rear
Treading with care
A cry he did make
At the sight of a snake
Jump he did
As past it slid
From markings heraldic
And length uni-metric
A puff adder guy
Is what we did spy
Our dog let it by
With barely a sigh
This path so hilly
Is now Puff Adder Alley!

Devil's Peak is a peak adjacent to Table Mountain in Cape Town and dog owners frequent its slopes with their pets. Puff adders are fairly common snakes. They have beautiful markings, are venomous and it is wise not to confront them.
