Who is he?

The Lonely God

by lancellot

If you’re lucky to pass through that blue police door

Know there is no going back to the life you had before

He will greet you with a smile and even shake your hand

As you tumble through time as if it were made of quicksand

~

Who is he?

~

He is the last of his kind in a universe of so many

A friend to those in need, and to evil, a feared enemy

He smiles when the odds of winning are very small

And enjoys the wibbly-wobbly bits of life most of all

~

Who is he?

~

Through all of time and all of known space

Tasting every moment and touching every place

He has seen planets formed from clouds of dust

He knows the real reason that iron turns to rust

~

Who is he?

~

Many times he has changed and many faces he has worn

He has seen trusted old companions die and new ones born

The TARDIS is his only home and he, her only master

He travels through time and space, thwarting disaster

~

Who is he?

~

He carries no ray-gun and no sword adorns his narrow hip

When a weapon is needed there’s a sonic screwdriver in his grip

His true name is known only to one for reasons still unknown

If in danger look for the Doctor; he’ll be the god standing alone

~

Who is he?

~

Behind this simple blue door that resembles wood

Is a Time Lord; the greatest hero who ever stood
