Your rhetoric's a bit stale, mate (5-7-5)
A chapter in the book A Potpourri of Poetic Curiosities
Numbnuts

Notes:
"When Worlds Collide" is a 1932 novel by Balmer & Wylie, which was made into a movie by Paramount in 1951.
"Rocket Man" is what B1 calls B2.
In a stalemate, no one wins.
Today's word: patt (n.) a stalemate.
My much-treasured Christmas present for 2017 is a book by Paul Anthony Jones: "The cabinet of linguistic curiosities". Each page contains a descriptive story about some obscure or archaic word. It occurred to me it would be a fun exercise to try and write, each day, a poem featuring the "word of the day" from the book.
