A chapter in the book A Potpourri of Poetic Curiosities

Mistaken identity

by CD Richards

My patience had started to dwindle,
I'm not one to steal or to swindle.
When the cop fingered me,
I gave up family,
"It's not me you want, it's my twindle!"

Today's word: twindle (n.) twin.

Have to say I haven't been overly inspired by the words for the last couple of days. Can you tell? Anyway, there's an old saying something along the lines of a poor workman blames his tools, so it is what it is :)

My much-treasured Christmas present for 2017 is a book by Paul Anthony Jones: "The cabinet of linguistic curiosities". Each page contains a descriptive story about some obscure or archaic word. It occurred to me it would be a fun exercise to try and write, each day, a poem featuring the "word of the day" from the book.

Thanks for reading.
