House Painting Blues

by Y. M. Roger

A lemon kitchen with intense amber sheen
will shine like the sun but never look clean
Then enter you
my palette of blue,
and what once was yellow, now shines a bright green!

Crimson office walls are far too riotous
while keen red floors help not to quiet us
Then enter you
my palette of blue,
and tame those cardinals into violets!

A den that is snowy one cannot deny
is boring and catches nobody’s eye
Then enter you
my palette of blue,
and voila! That white is now a bright sky!

Onyx columns out on the front patio
with ebony rails, whispers bordello
Then enter you
my palette of blue,
and that black façade becomes warm indigo!
