A congenital malady that causes daily agony

Chronic Agony

Ever heard of Chiari Malformation
It’s a damnation of which most aren’t aware
A condition in which brain tissue extends
Into the spinal cord through a deformity at
The base of the skull allowing spinal fluid to
Drip into the brain causing constant pain

Various methods to alleviate are tried
But subside the agony generally doesn't abide
Headaches, leg and neck flames, unsteady walking
Problems talking, numbness, tingling, and fuzzy vision
Just some of maladies the afflicted must endure

Unfortunately, no cure for this condition
Constant monitoring of a surgically installed shunt a
Device which is a tiny pump that continuously moves
Fluid from the brain cavity to dissipate elsewhere in the body

Surgeries, prescribed medications seem to bring little relief
Prayer and a passport to heaven sufferer’s sustaining belief.
