Men think that with muscle, strength and size on their side

Actually, they couldn't be further from the truth
for the need "to control" is the root
behind the relentless violence of the abuser.

While abused women can count
on the empathy of the public,
when the victim is a man even the 911 police tend to minimise.

This is unjust 'n should disgust;
domestic abuse is by law an offense,
so even when the abuser is a woman, it's time
she too is made accountable for her crime.

Since people are still reluctant to acknowledge,
let alone talk about this growing plague, most victims, fearing their virility will be questioned,
prefer to remain silent rather than face public ridicule.

has freed the gentle sex
from the confined roles of
wife, mother, and housewife

every word, move comes under scrutiny
Imaginary affairs fuel scenes of jealousy
being humiliated in front of
family 'n friends, an on-going cruelty.

There needs to be more awareness now
so women perps are stopped and sent to jail
and abused men are not judged weak and frail.
