What I like most about Christmas,
are the traditions my family holds dear.
The ornaments made by my kids when small,
placed on mantle and tree every year.
The village that we set up each Christmas,
grows so much bigger with each passing year.
Houses placed carefully, windows aglow,
rows of buildings bask with Christmas cheer.
Our table set with delicate candles,
a snowman candle holder, so old.
Some pieces belonged to my mother,
many stories about them are told.
Christmas Eve is all about family,
we make the same tasty snacks every year.
Ritz crackers, summer sausage, and squeeze cheese.
Homemade treats bring us holiday cheer.
We used to open presents at Christmas,
now we play bingo games and win prizes.
It saves on the stress and finances,
and we no longer get the wrong sizes.
With the lights of the tree glowing brightly,
and the love my family gives so free,
our Christmas traditions continue,
they bring joy and contentment to me.
