There was a little mountain that
Was never satisfied,
Complaining he was shorter than
The ones he stood beside.

He wished that he had snow on top
Like those with peaks up high.
He wanted to be big like them
And closer to the sky.

One day an older mountain said,
"I'm tired of all your whining.
I wish you'd try to be content
To see the sun is shining.

You're blessed by both sunshine and rain,
Just like the rest of us.
Because you don't have snow on top
Is no excuse to fuss.

God made the mountains, big and small,
As part of His creation,
For beauty and protection, too,
Beyond imagination.

While bold men seek to reach my peak
Just to proclaim it done,
Then little children play on you
To shout and laugh with fun."

The little mountain gave some thought
To words his elder said,
Deciding not to wish for change,
But be content instead.
