I'm willing to speculate you've never seen
A dragon turn cartwheels on Gog-Magog Green.
What's more, I'm surmising that you've never met
A Gobbledegook with a Sphinx for a pet.
Well chance is a fine thing! Today is the day
The Gobbledegooks will all come out to play.
And what a great cause for such high celebration,
A joyous event for the Gobblede-Nation.
Remember young Rupert, the prince who's now King
And Hilda his Queen who has made his heart sing?
Well now a new era in their life begins -
By Royal Pronouncement - The Queen Has Had Twins!
King Rupert is gleeful, the Queen is ecstatic,
Their subjects show joy in all ways acrobatic.
Witches, Magicians and Fairies and Elves
Turn wild somersaults with no thought for themselves.
The castle's festooned with bright streamers and flags
And even the mountains have lights on their crags.
While out on the streets where you wade through confetti,
You may meet a Gryphon, a Faun or a Yeti.
Unicorns frolic and Zombies cavort,
A Banshee is booked for a gig at the court.
Pixies and mermaids and Leprechauns dazzle
While children all wear themselves out to a frazzle.
The show is attended by Sultans and Czars,
By Bally-Balooshkins and Grand Zanzibars.
The High Priest of Prestwick pronounces his blessing
On A-List celebrities, all effervescing.
And so it continues, this riotous assembly
Till young folk start drooping and old folk grow trembly;
Till elephants, lions and zebras act sleepy;
Till those who've imbibed grow all mawkish and weepy.
But now they're alerted by such a great cheer -
The whisper is spreading, "They are here! They are here!"
King Rupert, Queen Hilda, the babes in their arms,
King Rupert so handsome, the Queen shows her charms.
They thank all their subjects, the sweet and the mild ones,
all creatures and preachers, the crazy and wild ones.
The Queen sings a rap song, the King gives a speech,
The wee Prince and Princess emit a loud screech.
But now the show's over, the fireworks are done,
This day of festivities, folly and fun.
With visions of happiness lodged in their heads,
The Gobbledegooks all retire to their beds.
