I have had many pets
In my eighty years of life
Including goldfish, parakeets
Four dogs and one cat
The goldfish were okay
But they were boring
Just swam in and out
Of a little stone castle
Darn parakeets never talked
No matter how hard I tried
Both ended life, stiff on their
Backs at the bottom of the cage
The doggies were fun but
A lot of work, training, feeding
Taking them for walks and
Picking up piles of excrement
The cat, he was something else
He thought I was his pet
Nuzzled when he wanted to eat
Other times he could care less
He was just off on his own
But let me tell you, I now have
The best pet I ever owned
Don’t have to feed
Don’t have to walk
Don’t have to clean up
Doesn’t bark or meow
Let me explain:
My pet, shall we say has
Great flexibility – the ability
To changes genders, yes really-
Uncle Sam for July celebration
A scary witch for Halloween
Pilgram lady for Thanksgiving
