(Does NOT have to be 5-7-5 syllables)
3 lines (short/long/short)
Present tense
Two grammatically interconnected lines of concrete imagery in lines 1 and 2 or 2 and 3 and a satori (moment of insight) in lines 3 or 1
PLEASE ADHERE TO THE INTERCONNECTED LINES RULES. I DON'T WANT TO SEE THREE SEPARATE LINES.
No caps (except proper names, etc.)
Minimal punctuation
NO personification (attributing human qualities to animal or object)

If you are not familiar with the great Northwest, this haiku will not mean much to you. The Chinook Indians and Chinook Salmon are connected with nature. The Columbia River is the "heart" of nature here. The Bridge of the Gods is a real bridge, that spans the Columbia.
