Wandering Minstrel
I played my guitar on Saturday night
at a Package Show in Atlanta
and the crowd was right
I was barely into song Number Three
when a pretty little filly walked up to me
She was there by the stage and all alone
Man I was thinking I'd like to take
that little girl home
When I noticed her staring back at me
smiling as sweetly as she could possibly be
She told me "You know the show must go on
These are your people and, you are
right where you belong
I see they all really do love you so
but, was it worth losing my love? I'd like to know"
Stevie started banging his drums so loud
Played them a song called "Wipe Out!" and he
excited that crowd
When Matt on the keyboards jumped right on in
I knew that crying time for me would soon begin
Song Number Seven sure tears me apart
My mind starts its wandering and that's
when my teardrops start
Makes me believe I can't do this no more
With no other words she walked right out the door
By song Number Ten I want to go home
but no one waits, and what is the use
when you live alone
So I told the band continue to play
and for those wonderful people we stayed all day
When the show was over I wanted to die
there is a river of pain from her
telling me goodbye
And "Fare thee well" was all that she had said
Just some pretty words from her pretty head
Back on the bus heading out of the town
stared out the window. Was the one who
made the deal go down
I knew I had lost the girl of my dreams
but, had another one waiting in New Orleans
