how my heart does grieve
untouched by one great love,
its reality not to believe
but once prayed for to God above;
we don't receive all of which we ask
but must be ready for responsibility,
in the glow of love we wish to bask
but it is not all frivolity;
others spend a loveless lifetime,
have a family, function as a unit,
intolerance, impatience, what a crime,
they live the lie, fake the dream and ruin it;
but I can't justly complain,
have been sufficiently maintained
several partners anchored in lust
until their roving eyes determined straying a must
and now my smile cries

Author Notes
Many people live loveless lives; most never find their true love and live only in the shadow of what one might have been. One attempt at real love after another but sometimes it seems always just out of our grasp. Thank you for reading.
Thank you to GaliaG for use of the picture, "Crying Eye".
