A Potpourri of Poetic Curiosities
: Crossroads by CD Richards

Was it luck, or was it fate
caused our lives to decussate?
You on your way, I on mine;
intersecting, they combined.
Far we've come, there's far to go;
summer's sunshine, winter's snow.
Life's a journey, we'll depend
on each other, 'til the end.
When it's over, our last laugh
will be our shared epitaph—
"Thanks for showing me the sun;
so long, friend, it's sure been fun!"

Author Notes
Today's word: decussate (v.) to mark with an X, to cross or intersect into an X shape.

My much-treasured Christmas present for 2017 is a book by Paul Anthony Jones: "The cabinet of linguistic curiosities". Each page contains a descriptive story about some obscure or archaic word. It occurred to me it would be a fun exercise to try and write, each day, a poem featuring the "word of the day" from the book.

Thanks for reading.
