It might be the most pointless act of all; you think you'll be all snug behind your wall. But walls won't work to keep you safe from sin, they mostly serve to keep the evil in. The idea's flawed, so why not let it go? Just ask the good old folk of Jericho. Berlin's parietine is long forgot; so dump this foolish plan, it serves you not.   Author Notes Today's word: parietine (n.) a fallen or ruined wall. My much-treasured Christmas present for 2017 is a book by Paul Anthony Jones: "The cabinet of linguistic curiosities". Each page contains a descriptive story about some obscure or archaic word. It occurred to me it would be a fun exercise to try and write, each day, a poem featuring the "word of the day" from the book. Thanks for reading.
