Does that blazing orb
we find warming us, radiating
always downward, in dazzling bright
gold rays compete with the stars?
I think not, as I stand in witness
to the commanding luminescence
of a daytime sky, wherein the Sun excels.
So as the Sun dominates the day,
so you also can excel and
eclipse your competition.
In my world of sporting experiences,
those, oh so many,
grinding heart-thumping,
leg cramping drill upon drill,
with the coaches ranting laboriously,
while being challenged to hone
skills and prepare for
the competitive onslaught
on the gridiron --
all this preparation took me
ultimately beyond the field of play
to everyday living,
with a learned aspiration developed
deep in the marrow of my bones,
that I should compete for ownership
of being a better, faster, smarter
person than I was yesterday.
But, in the end,
the sun does not compete
with the stars!
It simply excels in its'
luminance during the day.
I believe then, that we are here
to dance, sing, and celebrate life!
With the task of the full embodiment
of lighting the dark trenches
where others may habituate
so, they too can experience
a happy life,
not to win or lose...
not to compete -
but to learn, evolve...excel!
Excelling is essential,
because it leads to innovation...
Then all of mankind wins!
