Apart from all that seems to be
Below perceived reality,
Can real truth e’er be ascertained
Divined and yet left unrestrained?
I ask now, would you recognize it?
Eternity seems too abstract -
From days of old, an artifact...
Grasping each night, we seek tomorrow:
How can it rise from today’s sorrow?
Pray, tell me, would you recognize it?
Inside your soul resides a spark -
Judiciously, it paints your heart.
Knowing you, you’ll laugh and scoff,
Like Hemingway, just write it off...
But can you really recognize it?
Myopic crowds refuse to see
Nowhere is candor guaranteed.
Of course humanity is flawed,
Patent denial’s intrinsic fraud...
Still, would you recognize it?
Questions arise now ev’ryday -
Revolution’s not so far away:
Semantics exploit fear and rage
Tight’ning our nation’s pressure gauge...
And some still refuse to recognize it.
Unguarded liberty can’t last,
Vigilance must be steadfast -
Watershed for red, white & blue:
Xanthous should e’er remain taboo
Yes… in your heart… you recogniZe it, too.

Author Notes
*Xanthous is a little used term/word for the color yellow
Went a little 'all out' on this one, folks - figured the contest said it was okay, so why not?! Thanx, as always, for reading the somewhat eccentric blonde! ;)
