I've had a real fear of these since I first watched "The Wizard of Oz" --
We experienced one here in Massachusetts in 2011. The color of the sky was "death" ~ I was petrified!
This is so true about the sound! Thank goodness you lived to tell about your personal experiences!

Illinois was definitely a tornado Mecca! Colorado rarely has any.

Whew! That's a bonus!

This poem with the theme of 'air' paints a very convincing picture of an air event in the atmosphere. a tornado- must be scary as it 'sounds like a freight train.

It definitely is! I lived through several as a child. Very scary!

The closest I ever was to a tornado was with my wife and daughter in the old "Twister" experience t Universal Studios. They've always occurred just away from wherever I was. So glad you lived through them and were able to post this.

Thanks for the great review! We could always tell when one was coming. All of a sudden, the air would be completely still, the darkest clouds would hang really low, and the sky was nasty green. Scary!

Thank God you are still here!
