Bill, a bit late, but better late than never! I'm sure people died on the 29th... would be reeeallly scary if they didn't! Remember that old movie "Death Takes a Holiday?"

What a sobering message. On the one hand, it is hella depressing - one day, ONE day out of what? 365 x 4... (scrunching face as I do the mental math...) 1460 PLUS a spare, ACK!

The poem is very clever, and the note should be unnecessary, Bill. I like the rhyme of "died/survived." I assume that the title "Three Days of Safety" is an allusion to the fact that Feb 29 does not exist for three years. So, of course, no one can die on non-existent days.
Inherent in your poem is a playful but bleak assessment of modern society.
