I'm not sure it was a wise decision of mine to read these contest entries just before bedtime, lol. I love the imagery here - "beside the pit an empty shoe" and "the scent of stranger on spit turning". Wonderfully creepy.

Wonderful imagery used. Flowed flawlessly with excellent rhythm and rhyme. Tantalizing topic chosen and great addition of the music.

I love the picture. I love the poem. This is one cook out I do not want to be at. Being the major dinner guest may mean I am the one on the stick. Gentlemen stay out of the woods. Great work.

Yummy. Cannibalism and witches cursed cauldrons. This is most definitely a well composed, chilling tale in a classic horror vein.

Bubble, bubble, toil and trouble, witches fly and cauldrons bubble... I'm sorry, but I simply couldn't get this out of my head as I read it. I happen to enjoy stories of covens and the debauchery they're frequently associated with, and your poem was no exception.

Well done, and best of luck to you in the contest...

I did not get notification of this post--so, I assume it's for a contest--best wishes. Shades of Macbeth--double, bubble, toil and trouble! Quite a grizzly scene, but I admired your rhymed couplets in these rhythmic quatrains and use of alliteration. Cheers- Joan
