To have the faith of a child... what an amazing memory. What an incredible gift you were granted...yes the lord does work in mysterious ways for sure.

Amen! A wonderful story told here of God's love and His promise of answering prayer. I enjoyed the way this flowed and your descriptive word choices as well. Well done!

How cool. There are people like Reverend Collier in the world. Too bad they don't get the notice that some of the more nefarious people do. What an uplifting story. Well written with a smooth flow and a pleasure to read. Good advice as well! mikey

Thanks a bunch, Mikey, i really appreciate it.
What are the odds, do you think, of a preacher finding my note? About a million to one, I'd wager. But he and I became close friends years later, after my mom told me who really answered my note. He was a good soul, and a very caring human being. We could use a lot more just like him.
Thanks so much again for you kind comments and review.

This is an amazing poem. It expresses beauty, faith and unwavering hope. Faith perfumes off of every word in this poem. It stirred something in my chest, my heart. The goodness of it. The answer the good Reverend scribbled on the note is so simple you want to laugh. Pray or mediation, both spiritual actions, answers all your questions. If you are still enough and patience enough you will hear God speaking to you.

This is a very interesting write up indeed and tells the story of so many people. We do bottle our prayers up from time to time, so we just need to let them out. well done here.

What a lovely memory from childhood, and what a wonderful outcome.
We seem to continually forget that 'there is power in His word.'
The rhythm and rhyme carries the poem along nicely.
Warmly,
Juliette

What a touching story. Receiving a reply must have been really important to you, like a prayer answered in person. Thanks for sharing this with us. :)

I was elated, Phyllis. When I got a bit older, and my mom told me who really answered the note, I looked up the dear Rev. Gene Collier, and we became close friends until his death in 1999. He was a wonderful and caring human being. I miss him a lot.
Thanks so much for the kind comments and thoughtful review. :}

This is a different spiritual poem and you have gone back to the child with the questions you ask. A lovely story of hope and prayer.

Yes, the power of prayer can do miraculous things. Don't put a note in a bottle. Speak to God. Talk with him. Tell him your woes and troubles. He is listening. Thank you for posting a thought-provoking poem.
