Teresa: original, contemplative thinking and words and a picture which couldn't have been better matched. Congratulations on second place. You had some tough competition. Linda

Great 5/7/5 poem, Teresa.
I like your descriptive definition of imagination...sometimes when i am trying to create, i only have tunnel vision! lol
i am going to remind myself to use peripheral vision. :-)

What a compelling and thought-provoking poem for the contest, Teresa. I loved your use of imagination and horizon. Sometimes, the perceptions of what we see is more spectacular when not seeing it head-on or as reality. Best wishes in the contest.
Smiles,
Karyn :-)

Teresa,
I love this haiku/5-7-5 poem. I don't have peripheral vision LOL so I have to use my imagination. I love your poem. I wish you the absolute best in the contest.

I really enjoyed pondering this 5-7-5!
I found the final line quite profound. At first, I thought "why didn't she say beyond horizon?", which of course, made me dig deeper. (i.e. there HAD to be a reason).
The more I thought about the word horizon, the more I focused in on the fact that horizon is, essentially, an earth bound concept (true, we have co-opted it metaphorically - but it remains a boundry line). And the truth is, our imagination is the art of producing ideal creations consistent with reality - bound by our earthly perceptions. So there is only the one horizon to explore.
Even our speculation about other planes of existence is founded on our earthbound experiences.
Great write :-)

Hi Teresa,
You did a great job in writing this poem for the contest. The artwork is very nice too. I like both of them very much. Both your poem and the picture you used with it should go over big for the contest.

Oh, I like this a lot. It's intrinsic simplicity carries many layers of depth. That exoressive 5-7-5 format works beautifully to form the thesis, one 5 syllable word, carried to the broadest visual expanse. Excellent alliteration and assonance of the O sound in that last line. Nice transition from the mind to the eye.

So much has been said
in a few words our
imagination is so
important within all our lives
We can gain so much from our imagination.
