I have heard of many conceptions taking place on a naval base but births are somewhat rarer, rarer still back in the days of your birth. I would have thought there might be a scarcity of gynacologists not to mention midwives. At least this is more hopeful than my miserable account.

Very neat memento poem flows well and delivers a true message about birth and age. Good use of color and artwork. How considerate of your mom to time your birthday right, LOL!

You speak of golden moments and it really is a golden moment to read your poem, Mikey. I love the way you presented your work, the colours you chose, the wording, and the whole presentation was very pleasant, Giddy

Hi Mikey. I've never thought of being born as "taking flight". When you think about though, it really is taking flight. Leaving mother's warm, safe womb and going on an adventure into unknown territory. Wow, what a flight! "Hope soars, and all believe in me" ... yes, we all have wonderful dreams for our children and hope that they have the best life.

Great job on this Potlatch Momento poem! "Golden Gate" can be interpreted in a number of ways. It can mean 'the gates of Heaven and being reborn', 'a specific time' (in this instance, your birthday), it can mean 'aging', or it can even mean 'life itself'. Or all of the aforementioned. :) It's left up to your reader.

Happy Easter! - - Connie

Michael, this is a fine birthday poem to yourself. It's title drew me attention because I live in the San Francisco Bay Area over in Hercules near Richmond. We used to have a lot of navel bases in our area and each has naval hospitals where tykes like you were born.

You capture the moment and place of your birth and look out toward the horizon of your life with hope. You conclude on a note of transcendence.

Thank you for sharing and Happy Birthday!

Following the notes so wonderfully added, as I wish more would do, helped me follow your birth in rhyme. Little did they know you would be the wonderful, cute, desire of all us that know what we like. lol

A very well-written memento poem about your date of birth as well as the place and time of your birthday. Most babies are born in the early hours of the day between midnight and 09 AM.

This is so beautiful, 'with hope--
horizon's reached won't do,
or end.
Now, I still claim the same bold scope,
my age-- just something to
transcend'
Thanks for sharing.
Have a great weekend.
