WOW! This was beautiful. I keep reading it over and over. You are a wonderful writer! Its packed with gorgeous description and imagery. I love, "The slender reeds vibrate with whispered songs of you and mayfly moments, long since gone." that line alone could be a poem. Wonderful job, I cant wait to read more from you!

Oh why didn't I see this earlier? It is a truly wonderful poem. Has everything I like in a poem. Image, sound, control of language, expressiveness, allusiveness. Great stuff!

What a visual feast your words gave me. I was at the pool seeing a rainbow trout dining al fresco when BAM I was stabbed with sorrow. What a wonderful talent you have. This was a great read. Learned a lot from it. Than you Dorinda

Tony--
Really like this up until the "ere" which, to me, puts it in...the antique shoppe or something. "Ere" just does not seem necessary except maybe as a nod toward the poetic past. But, here it is dated in a way I can't quite describe. Otherwise a really nice look at the life and death workings of such a pond.
Thanks

Hi Tony,
This poem was very strong - regarding the images and the wording up until the end but the closing lines made it stunning! That final simile did it! You start out almost impersonal, just observing nature - the beauty and the cruel necessity - and then it superimposes a personal loss. Beautifully done!
