What a great and inexpensive way to take a vacation.
I think kids will love to read along and act out Wally's adventures
including the hurt knee and the bumblebee sting. ouch!
Nicely written in easy meter and rhyme.
Best wishes in the contest

Ha, well there is Wally and I'll bet I know who he's bringing along with him. Great job Yvonne and I must say I am thrilled to see that Mister Wally is back to entertain us in perfect metre and rhyme once again.
Best of luck to you in the contest with this beauty. :)

Thank you so much, Gloria. You inspired me to bring him back. I was afraid everyone was tired of him. Thank you for your support. You're a good friend.

So cute! I can see this turning into a children's book! I hope that is where you are headed with it! Creative, flowing, rhythmic! I am OUT of sixes, so sorry. The artwork is great with your poem. Overall nicely done! Good Luck!

He must have fallen into a deep sleep because we haven't seen him for some time. Until I got to the 'it was all a dream' bit I thought how like a child's day this was turning out, dashing about doing a mass of thinggs, taking the odd knock, losing this and finding that. It was all reminiscent of my own childhood when school was out.

He's been lazy as of late. Thank you for this delightful review. Did you not like the ending? I wondered about that.
-
I wasn't expecting it to end like that for reasons that I mentioned in my review.
-
Fair enough. 8-)

Excellent. I found myself enjoying Wally's adventures as I read. Good flow and pacing. Rhyming spot on. Poem reads well silently and out loud. What a fun dream to have! Kids should love this. As well as kid like adults (me). Hugh

Oh, my goodness, what a wonderful child's tale.
Wish my great granddaughter was old enough to share it with. So I must save it and hope it comes out in book form by then. Think???
Wish I had a Six for you.

Yes, I plan on getting it published when I figure how to do it. How old is your granddaughter?
-
Actually she's my great-granddaughter and she's almost 5 months old. So your book will be out in time even if you have to wait a while. :)

Your poem is almost perfect, and in my opinion would be perfection without the quatrain about the bat cave. I have nothing against bats, but that stanza is a departure from the spirit that makes the rest of the poem so delightful.
Good luck in the contest!

I'm sorry you think that. I was alluding to Carlsbad Caverns where it exciting to see the bats come and go. Thank you for not counting down on that. Maybe people would.
-
No way would I downgrade for that, but (despite your intention) I insist that stanza, as written, is counter to the tenor of the piece, which is much better, without it. Remember, I'm on your side!

This is one of the best children's poems I have ever reviewed in this site. The rhymes are so smooth, young children will enjoy reading this piece again and again. Thanks for sharing an excellent write.
