I'm playing a little catchup, Craig.
Read through this poem, and enjoyed the double meaning... with beer, and boorishness... Which I took as a similie for behavior based for one who might know what it feels like after a night of drinking the rot-gut stuff.
Low quality behavior can also give your soul a bit of yuck... if you have one, or a conscience. There are some who seem to have teflon insides, to be boorish 24/7 with few side effects.

Indeed, there are plenty of them, Turtle. I'm reading your reviews in the order they are listed; i.e. reverse. There certainly are a lot of them. Thanks for spending so much time reviewing my little offerings this morning. I really appreciate it, knowing how busy you must be. Most grateful, Craig

Wise words and so poetically said. I love that first line -- "Beware the beer of boorishness." But the beer of boorish politicans is much more than flux-ale. Sigh.

I KNEW there was a reason I don't like beer. (LOL - IF I ever drink it, I kill it with tomato juice. Now that I like. :)) I'm not much of a drinker anyway, but if I am going to drink it's usually something sweet, like a Pina Colada, or ice wine -- yum!
I run into a fair number of boors...(*sigh*). Now I have a new word I can use to describe them. :))

I'm so glad to be able to keep up the supply of pejoratives you can use on your un-neighbourly neighbour :)
Thanks once again, Dawn.
Cheers, Craig

Hmm ... just as good quality beer is supposedly good for you (I've heard it calms and relaxes ... maybe I should have some), it makes sense that "flux-ale" wouldn't be well tolerated. "beer of boorishness" ... luv it! Thanks for teaching another new word, Craig!
Cheers,
Connie

Comment from Gloria ....
This is one of those poems that creeps up on a person. First of all you go ya, and then upon a second reading it draws forth uproarious laughter. Go figure. lol.
Great job Craig and I most certainly won't be imbibing any of those libations ever if I can help it.
Happy Day to you. :)

I knew someone would get it. Thanks so much, Gloria. And you stay away from that nasty tangerine fluid. Most grateful, Craig

In this poem, Flux-ale, another new word bellies up to the bar as we learn about Brand X beer. Some beer goes down smooth but then clamors to get out. Rough.

One of my favourite beers is XXXX. It's a Queensland ale, and they gave it that name because they can't spell "beer" :-) Cheers!

This reminds me of the old excuse for bad behavior: "It sounded good at the time." Probably akin to drinking Kool-Aid? Hopefully if it doesn't taste good, we won't take a sip at all. This is an amazing book you have. Does your book give a time from for each word's popularity and usage? Marilyn

It tries to trace how the word came about in most instances. In some cases it gives a rough idea when the term is thought to have been introduced. For example, in this case, it is stated the word "flux" was introduced into English in the 12th century, though when the actual term "flux-ale" was first used is not given. Drinking the Kool Aid is a most appropriate association to draw. Thank, Marilyn :)
Comment from Sandra du Plessis
A very well-written poem about drinking a poor quality of beer that can cause more problems than that the body can handle. If we need to have a beer, make it something that is high quality to enjoy it.

You did a good job, Craig, with your poem about beer that isn't so great once one drinks it. Perhaps you need to add MD after your name. Great picture to pair with your warning. Thanks for sharing. Jan

Oh boy! Another one of your alcohol poems. I do love them. They are my favorites. I think that I would not love boorish beer though. The problem is, how will I recognize it.

Fortunately, it's pretty much unmistakable to any who have studied beer at all , Debbie :)
Many thanks, Craig
