It reminds me of the movie called Must Love Dogs. This poem has many levels. Whose palm? A suitor? Or their own palm? Whole stole the speaker's love that day? It was our love of dogs that sealed my partner's & my relationship. The reader will interpret this to fulfill their fond memories. Nicely written.

I believe that having a pet in the family is a blessing ..
So you are both dog lovers ..what a sweet way to have met.
I use to be just a dog person but then I saved the first (of many cats to follower) from the rubbish tip.

My cat is Scruffles who stars in my book Be Wee With Bea. Things pretty well follow the real time I had with him. And my dog is Sweet Puppy, also quite accurate an account.

They melt your heart with so much cuteness ..and that's why looking after them , bottle feeding them every two hours and butt massaging and all the rest is not that bad ...and when they grow up they give all the love and care they received back and with interest too. .

This 5-7-5, A Girl's First Love, has the right set up and reminds me of our kids' first pet. She was with us for thirteen years; the kids were five and six when we got her. She was a hoot and I cried after she died more than at either of my parents' funerals.

I understand what you are saying .. I told my pet dog everything and he was there for me always...I have not yet met anyone that can equal the love, trust, comfort, laughs he gave me.
