Yvette, that was brilliant! I loved it. Jimmy is no longer the beaten and humiliated brother of those nasty men, he is James, the man! Bless him, those dreams weren't dreams, they were messages from the Lord, the lovely blue eyes gave him away. Oh Yvette, I really enjoyed this story, and will probably read it again before Christmas. Well done, my friend, and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xx

Oh, Sandra, thank you so much for this wonderful review -- and, may I say, that your review means more than you'll ever know simply because you 'got' what I tried to write into this one!! And, yes, you were the only one to see the big picture, so thank you!! I do hope this finds you preparing for a wonderful Christmas with your family and friends... my mom and dad arrived yesterday, so I will be probably be quite scarce 'round these parts (LOL!). Take good care of you and yours, my friend, and I'll check in later!! ;) :)Yvette

I'm glad that Jimmy got a new/better start in life. His direction at the end was to go to California; his brothers definitely were very mean to him. I'm always glad that this type of story is fictional; the end brings a happy ending.

Having taught for so many years now, Rosemary, I've come across so many different situations that I know things are always what they seem on the surface, ya know? As with all of my characters, I enjoyed writing Jimmy and I'm glad you did, too! ;) Thanx for your review and Happy Christmasing out there! ;) Yvette
Comment from Gloria ....
Well for someone who ain't familiar with the Western genre, Yvette, I'd say you cottoned to this form with great panache.
Your rosary front and centre, the story elements present in spades and the dialogue natural and appropriate.
A superb story all around and best luck to you in the voting booth.
A pleasure to read and review. :)

Oh, Gloria, THANK YOU!! Your words mean a lot! ;) It really ended up a lot longer than I had intentions on writing, but once the story started to take shape (I really wasn't sure where I was gonna go at first - lol!), I had to make it do what I wanted... and it got kinda long! C'est la vie, I suppose!! It was fun, though, and, as with all my characters, I really enjoyed my Jimmy! ;) Take care, my lady, and Happy Christmasing! ;) Yvette

Hi Yvette, I will admit that normally I would've abandoned this as being too long, but your story caught my attention and kept me spellbound with all the different characters. I'm sure it will do well. I certainly hope so. Good luck. Ulla:)))

Thank you so very much for taking the time to read my story, Ulla -- it was certainly not my genre of choice.... and, you're so right, it was long, but it just 'happened' - LOL! LOL! Again, I do appreciate you, my lady, and Happy Christmasing over there! ;) Yvette

What a marvelous, spellbinding story, I could not leave it for a minute. Usually, when I am tired at night, I temporarily skip the longer ones, but this one caught my attention and I had to keep going. Very rich character description and very odd and exciting details. I am most anxious to see what comes up! Don't make us wait too long!

Wonderful story, Yvette. You put a lot of work into this, and it paid off splendidly. I think it will win first prize. It has my vote for sure. It's rather long, which can be a handicap, but the more the better with such good writing. :)

Oh, Sally - THANK YOU!! :) Thank you for stars and thank you SO MUCH for taking the time to read my story, Phyllis!! ;) This was certainly not my genre of choice and then to mix in a Rosary...aaaack! Let's just say I actually procrastinated in getting started and STILL had no idea for the whole thing even once I was tapping out the beginning dream sequence - LOL! ;) : ) And, of course, there was certainly much metaphor and more woven into it - that's my 'fantasy' girl trying to co-op my Western story...LOL! LOL!
And I'm sure it's too long to do well, but once I got really into it, I HAD to finish it completely... just the OCD girl again! ;)
Take care, my lady, and a very Merry and Blessed Christmastime!! ;) Yvette

You did an amazing job with your prompt, YM. I was engaged from start to finish. Yes, your story is long. However, I did not mind the length. You story kept me reading and reading for more. Your image choice is beautiful. It is perfect for the way your story ends, too. You developed your characters well. I could envision each one. The plot worked well. Readers can identify with your characters--they are very believable. Thanks for sharing and best wishes. Respectfully with Love, Jan

Thank you for taking the time to really read my story and provide such constructive feedback, Jan -- so very appreciated on both fronts! ;) And it was certainly not my genre of choice and then to mix in a Rosary out West? Aaaack!! Let's just say I actually procrastinated in getting started and STILL had no idea for the whole thing even once I was tapping out the beginning dream sequence - LOL! ;) : )

I guess James has a purpose in life beyond being a lackey and a punching bag for his brothers. There's something waiting for him in California, and with his rosary and his Bible, he'll find it.
