Found this while browsing and this did make me smile. You say you love wordplay and vocabulary, and it shows in this very clever tale; you make it look so easy. Extremely well written, I will search out your others.

Hello Valerie... you've been digging up my past! You've found my "Life with a..." series. I had fun writing those stories and you appear to enjoy my sense of humour.

Great job. A funny one. He looks resolute in his decision. I guess she wasn't his type or maybe vice-versa. I like the line, "What the Dickens did she expect?" Marilyn

And shook his spear at her for good measure? I'm not sure this one counts as a romantic encounter, though the new chapter might. I'm interested to know what came first; the puns or the genre.

Before I wrote this series, I wrote a series about hypothetical relationships with different animals, pretending they were my boyfriends (I don't have a partner myself - readers thought I should write about humans, with the 'law of attraction' possible working to my advantage to get me a feller!)

A very well-written fifty word flash about being living with a writer will be conflict of interest. One writer in the house is enough, there must be someone who can keep things afloat.

Oh.... I clicked on this one with a hint of trepidation in my heart.... Was she writing about me???
Relief... I was OK. I could have been, but there were worse stories to tell.
Another one I enjoyed!

Laughed out loud at work again! The funniest one that hit me was: He booked dinner out; she complained all the time but edit all. This is funny enough to post in professional magazines' offices. Or English classrooms. I might possibly move this sentence: He wrote off their relationship. And just put it before : He began a new chapter with someone else.

I love that you get my humour! Thanks so much for your comments and high rating.
I think the lines need to stay as they are, because the line "What the Dickens did she expect?" is a follow on from his writing off of their relationship; otherwise it wouldn't quite link with the previous line where she's complaining about the dinner.

Ah ha! That explains it.

I'm glad he dumped her. She wasn't write for him. That special person is out there, and one day he'll meter. In fact, women will line up to be rhythm.
Thank you for my morning laugh, Lisa May. I enjoyed this very much.

Two writers in the family might be a bit too much competition! You made me smile here with your clever words Lisa, I liked: 'what the Dickens did she expect.' Love Dolly x

Nice work up and presentation for this picture and some folks there is just no pleasing no matter what one's does. Best to just walk away.

Again you demonstrate what a clever wordsmith you are. This is a doomed relationship from the first. Indeed, he will be better off starting a new chapter with someone else. Terrific chapter.
