y'know Dean - I was just looking at the ratings this morning and saw that Gungalo was #5. I thought at first - how sad, that her ranking is starting to fall, her star is fading, and she will continue to slide down the list as time moves on. It doesn't diminish her calibre as a poet one bit. How great a poet one is cannot be measured in the rankings.
You captured some wonderful feelings perfectly in your tribute Ode to this exceptional poet.
She was not only an excellent poet, but a wonderful teacher as well - and we, her students learned much from her.
Your poem is quite beautiful with many, many poetic devices such as alliteration, internal rhyme, poignancy and flow.
You done her proud, Dean.
Rose.

Thanks, Rose. I didn't feel right simply passing her by on the list without nodding to her in deep appreciation as I did so.
Her light will never fade.

It says a lot about her skill as a poet to still be #5 after so much time has elapsed.
I just know she's up there smilin' and laying on some cloud and watching over us.

Yes, Rose, it does indeed say a great deal about her poetic prowess. And, I'm sure you are right. :}

Pam was a 'real' person. By that I say she told it like it is and she is smiling down on you Dean. She knows she needs to post to stay on top so she will willingly pass the torch to someone she admired. Good job. We will say good by one by one as she descends, leaving a space for another poet! xsx Nancy

I know, Nancy, and for as long as I can remember, Pam was always #2, or 3, with Brooke taking up the lead, ever since I have been a member. But, you're absolutely right, the things she taught us all, and her loving memory, will never fade away.
Thanks so much for your kind and thoughtful review. :)

Hi Dean, This is a well written and worthy tribute to dear Pam, I never had the honour of knowing this poet, but from your poem and others I have read on here she must have been an exceptional lady, I just wish I had known her.

Loved this poem, Dean. Visually, it's very beautiful and very much in the style of Gungalo. She would smile at this wonderful tribute. I came across her name the other day on an old post of mine. Her reviews always made me smile, calling many of us, "girl". What a sweet soul.

As will I, Monica. I wrote this last night, very late this morning, to be truthful, at about 2:00 am. It was then that I'd realized i had passed her name in the poetry rankings, and it just didn't seem right to do so without giving her all the credit for what she so painstakingly taught me. Then, this morning, I learn another dear, cherished member, Maureen Napier, is very ill, and her own situation is very touch and go now. So, I went ahead and posted it. I felt it was appropriate for each beautiful lady.
Thanks for your kind and thoughtful review, as well as the six stars. I greatly appreciate it.
~Dean
