Another fun poem about counting! This could easily make a great picture book! Also--I was thinking about a book of "counting" poems?! Caroline

Oh, Brooke, I could see this as a book with some great illustrations even though the poor little acorns seem to have met their demise in one way or another. As always your wonderful rhyme would keep the attention of any child or adult, not to mention the story itself.
As always, a joy to read.

Brooke;
attractive alliteration in "side-by-side" and "squirrel scratched", impressive imagery that was very descriptive and expressive, outstanding artist's painting that represents and complements the poem, exquisite inventive and creative imagination, resourceful use of tempo and meter in its rhythm and an excellent composition for children as it teaches them to learn how to count. These are the many qualities that I obtained from reading your poem which is fantastically written.
Thank you for sharing and posting and may the good Lord be with you always Brooke.
Alex
PS: again good choice on the photo or painting.

You are so sincerely welcome my dearest friend. You know after taking a class I've seen so much misuse of the words laying and lying and passed and past.

Hi Brooke,
you know how I love your counting poems... must be the child in me that misses such innocence... and as usual, your meter, rhyming and flow are spot on and filled with fun... it actually hits an accord with me as I watch my avocado tree shed its fruit on a daily basis from the wind, rain and yes, birds, possums and bush rats. Hopefully they'll leave a few for me to eat.
Beautifully penned my talented friend.
With our thoughts we create,

Brooke, What a fun poem. I really enjoyed this one, as usual. I had to feel sorry for the poor little acorns. Great artwork along with it as well. Great job. Judy

This is yet another interesting rendition of the ten little Indians poem that the author has created with this piece of work. This is making a nice series. Well done.

Hello adewpearl, Very good, very cute, and silky rhyming too. I especially liked:
Six acorns thought good luck was theirs,
surviving such a day,
but then they heard a frightful sound,
the squawking of a jay.
(Ahhh, just when they thought that they had weathered "the storm," another comes ashore.)
A poem of twists and turns and new beginnings.
This poem made me smile. Keep the blue waters flowing. LateBloomer

Bumper crop of acorns this year. Walk in the woods at your own risk. A big acorn dropping fifty feet will make a knot on your head. A fine poem to teach counting.
