This is very nicely written and I enjoyed reading and revieiwing this. I especially liked these lines:
Can we rest from the toils of battle at peace, with the understanding that history will show the distinguished who have fallen
will live on in the hearts and actions of men who remember the injustice from their past
or will fall victim to events we ignored.

Thank you for this insightful poem on this Memorial Day weekend. I don't think we can remember or thank our service men and women enough - thank you for appreciating them through this poem. Enjoyed the read.

deeepwater,
great message for this time of year, my friend. As a vet, I realize how lucky I was. AS the son of a vet, I KNOW how lucky I was. A folded flag isn't much consolation, is it? Great job, Deep.

Soldiers fighting the battles of others, sometimes without knowing why the powerful sent them, or why a certain country is an enemy and another not. While victory is celebrated by all, soldiers are the true heroes.

deepwarter,
amazing tribute poem you've written for soldiers on this Memorial Day weekend. We should take more than one day to honor those men and women who fight for our freedoms. Excellent cadence, great narrative and very descriptive writing. I especially loved the lines:
In time our children shall come to understand when and how our fate was changed by the hand of mankind,
only then can you measure our worth and resolute against the actions we did indeed undertake for the name of liberty,
Dare we call from beneath this cross of stone, always reminding you of the confusion from history,
what lessons have you learned,
will you repeat the past mistakes of your ancestors who walked this world before,
I enjoyed your fabulous free verse poem. Your a very talented poet.

A great message at this time of Memorial Day and that we not let our soldiers die in vain. May we always remind our children of the price payed by our Mothers and Fathers to keep us safe.
