Jake, thanks much! I do intend to stay toasty warm all winter.

Very good. Man, you made it so cold I had to go get my robe. Very good free verse that told a good solid story and didn't wonder all over the place. Good ending, and the work is supported quite well by the art work. Great job, wishing you continued success.

Thank you for the kind validation.

The arctic setting makes me chilly but the hot chocolate and chili warm me up again. A pleasant read with rhyming throughout. No edits or adjustments to suggest. A very complimentary frosty looking arctic site in the accompanying artwork.

Lance, thanks for the review and comments.

A beautiful poem about the cold. The picture makes me shiver and the words as well. I love the last verse. It is cold here today (but not quite that bad) and warmer clothes feel good. Good luck in the contest.

Now you've made me hungry! Chili and cornbread are my two favorites. I live in Minnesota so it's not hard to imagine everything you described. Love this poem, thanks for sharing.

Hello my friend
Great Club entry for the "Cold" event in "The Fabulous Free Versers Club".
Nice imagery, for example... "someone's breath becomes tiny icy crystals"
I enjoyed reading your free verse. One of my favorite poetic forms.

Dear J LR, I am writing this for the second time because this space was empty. I wish I could remember the clever things I said in my first review, but I do remember that I commended you because you suggested the chili.
After all, you did say it was so cold that the hot cocoa turned slushy.
The only way to warm up in weather that cold, is to get warm from the inside !

You wrote a very warm sentiment and I thank you.

Hello JLR, a really well met challenge. You told a 'frosty' free verse story with a lot of imaginative phrases, eg. 'And the calendar is stuck in the muck as wet fingers are glued to Tuesday and you can't turn the page' - very good. This is quite lengthy and every page is well thought out. Warm regards Dorothy x

Dorothy, thank you much! Happy Holidays
Comment from Cindy Decker
Congratulations on your all time best!
Remember being younger and loving winter? Now winter is like your poem to me. Aches and pains, the feeling of freezing. Every January here the temp dips to 10 or 15 below zero.
Excellent photo!
Stay safeð??·

Thank you Cindy, I do love to reflect on those olden times of freedoms and flocking unabated as a child.

Your words go so well with your writing. I love this and truly enjoy the fun and humor in your words. I can only imagine this kind of cold. It is plenty cold enough here in Utah.
