This tribute is so touching and heartfelt it almost brought a tear to my eyes. The reader can feel your emotion and love for your sister in your well chosen poetic words. I am sorry for your loss and glad for your new light. Best wishes in the contest.

Thank you for sharing this tribute contest entry with us. The person who you described here must have been amazing. I enjoyed reading and know I would have enjoyed meeting this person. Good luck with the contest.

In the next moment, beautiful light and color fill the sky. (the following moment, it has to deal with the definition of the two words, next and following)

That is a beautiful, loving tribute to a lady who shined through life and now shines in Heaven. I see this in non-fiction, I'm so sorry for your loss. But hold on to that light in the sky, she'll be with you always, until you are with her once more. Well done, a lovely tribute. Good luck in the contest. :) Sandra xx

A fantastic tribute to your loving sister. As majestic, powerful and colorful are the fireworks illuminating our sky, your sister did the same for you.

Your words were powerful. What a great commemorative story and contest entry. I hope you win.
John

Breathtaking! Masterful fireworks metaphor packs a spot-on punch. Magnificent tribute to your sister. I peg this poignant original as a hands-down winner.

Very nice tribute. Well written.
"I was there for your rise, fall, and shine. So shine now; " - I didn't get this part. Wouldn't it have been - "rise, shine, and fall"? But how can it 'shine' now? Now that it has 'flamed out', so to speak? The analogy got a little murky.
Best wishes.

Hi! Thank you so much for your review, and taking the time to provide feedback. I hadn?t realized before, but now I can certainly see the need for clarity there.
The person who inspired this piece, died suddenly at 24 years old- after a long battle with addiction. The firework analogy is meant to describe her beautiful, chaotic, exciting, (dangerous, even) but unfortunately, short life. The sequence of rise(born), fall(die) and shine(live) was meant to put most importance behind her "shine" period of time. Like the firework, she lived beautifully but quickly fizzled out- the "shine now" is meant to represent her in the afterlife. Something I look for since her "light burnt out" so to speak. So, that?s where I hope she?ll "shine now" restored and without struggle.. or feeling she needs to depend on drugs to "ignite" her. I hope my ramblings provided some clarity lol thank you again:)

"A shot in the dark," "a flash in the pan," which is what I recall, perhaps wrongly, where fireworks are fired from. Anywhichway, memories come alive with the description you have written about darken skies made bright
some nights.

This is a beautiful tribute to someone who was undoubtedly a very special person who you and many other loved deeply. It is unusual to see so a glowing tribute to a sister although I've heard there are no closer ties on earth than to one's sister. I wish you notes had told us more about her and how long she lived. But the poem alone speaks volumns.

What a beautiful, truly heartfelt tribute!

Such a melancholic tale to resonate upon but your tribute is so uplifting and reminds us that our loved ones continue to show themselves to us long after they have departed Earth

I particularly liked this part,

"A sky that grieves with us. And yet, a spot of light in the infinite black emerges like a star peaking out from behind a dark cloud."

I am sure your sister would be honoured.
