Well done.
Yes, you are right. It took far too long to cover burn pit issues.
Worse, though, was the idiotic decision to burn everything.
Good luck in the contest.

    Hello Wayne, thank you for
taking the time to read my
poem on the tragedy of the
burn pits. It's a crime the
    U.S. gov't committed against
    our soldiers. I'm waiting to
    see if the gov't delivers
    good medical care to our
    soldiers, including Vietnam
    veterans with the PACT Act.
    The gov't burned all that
    poisonous garbage because
they didn't care what it did
    to our brave young soldiers.
    I have bereavement caused
by what the gov't did to them.
    Thank you for caring. Many
blessings to you & your family. ~

The horror of the Agent Orange chemical warfare is dreadful. As was the treatment of the soldiers by their own government on their return from zones of war. Your poem is graphic and emotional and the distress is justified. Very well written. Best wishes for the contest.

    Thank you so much, Wendy,
for taking the time to read
    and review my poem. The
    U.S. gov't has a history of
    dragging it's feet when it
comes to taking care of our
    soldiers. What the gov't did
to them is a crime. I'm
waiting to see if the PACT Act delivers what it's promised to our Vietnam
    veterans and Middle East
    War veterans. Thank you so
    much for caring. You're
such a good person. I hope
    you have a lovely weekend
    Many blessings to you and
    your family. ~

And and good strong voice you have used in this emotional write, Regina. They send them to these places for their country it is not good enough to forget them when they need help.
Great alliteration used, especially enjoyed - soot slithered serpentine

    Thank you so much, Pearl.
It is so tragic, it should never
    have happened. I hope the
PACT Act proves to be a
godsend for our sickened troops. Thank you for your
    kind empathic review. Many
    blessings to you. ~

This poem is so painful to read. It disturbs and resets and shuffles our creed in the core values of our system. Your words are poignant and hit like a hammer. Very deep and I cannot seem to forget this poem.

Hello Mario, this Agent Orange and burn pits tragedy
    should never have happened.
    Our troops sickened and
    many died because of the
    apathy of their own gov't.
    I pray the recently passed
PACT Act will be a godsend
to them, and they get the
    best medical treatment.
Thank you so much for your
    empathic caring. Many of
    God's blessings to you and
    your family. ~

Tegina,
Your awesome poem serves as the voice for every service person who was wronged by this travesty.
I love this particular work for its creativity and for the statement it opines.
Good luck with this one, Regina.

    Thank you so much, Cindy.
    I love your empathic concern
    for our sickened troops. The
    U.S. gov't after dragging its
feet for so long, finally passes the PACT Act. I hope
it proves to be a godsend
for our sickened Vietnam vets and Middle East wars
veterans. There is a burn pits
    organization:
    burnpits360.org. They have
    done an amazing job going
    to Washington, DC to see
    politicians to get the
PACT Act passed. It took a
    long time, and they tirelessly
    worked for its passage.
    From one veteran to another,
    thank you so much for
caring. Many blessings to you ~

In my case your writing hit home. All of this applies to the Thailand Vietnam War Veterans as well. We have been fighting for benefits for over fifty years. Thinks to the PACT Act - I have been finally awarded disability due to Agent Orange and Herbicide exposure. While I appreciate the award - it came too late for many of my buddies. For the Thailand Vietnam War Veterans, the PACT Act was, indeed, bittersweet.

    Hello James, thank you for
taking the time to read my
free verse on the tragedy of
the burn pits in the Vietnam
war and the Middle East wars. From what I've read,
    our Vietnam veterans are
also covered by the PACT Act
    also for Agent Orange too.
    Have a good evening and
    many blessings to you. ~

    With the PACT Act finally
passing, I pray and hope it
    means our sick veterans,
    including Vietnam veterans,
will get the best of care.
    Thank you for your kind
    5 star review. Blessings to
    you and your family. ~

So very moving, Regina.
And for those of us who have lived during the Middle East wars and saw our loved ones come back broken or in a casket, your words ring true:
Damn, Uncle Sam,
your misery is in your lies,
we were wounded living ghosts.
We entered the imposing monolithic
VA system, so many of us denied.
How could our own brass do this
to us?!
We were expendable to them,
we came back to the U.S.
betrayed.

Such a tragedy on so many levels...

Thank your for sharing; we must never forget...

    Thank you so much, Diane.
    The U.S. government finally
    passes the PACT Act after
    dragging its feet for years.
It is so sad so many of our
    soldiers have already died
waiting. I pray and hope that
many now will be given the
    best of medical care. This
    PACT Act coverage also
includes our Vietnam veterans.Thank you for the
    5 stars and empathic review.
    Many blessings to you and
    your family. ~

Wow.especially your ending is very well written. Every line was very descriptive and well written. Emotion was present in every word, as it should be. I'm so upset about the same things.I have a few close friends that were both boys and had the same experience. It's shameful that's people who have you so much I treated poorly. I can only vote to help it change. Excellent and thoughtful writing! Ve well!

    Alexandra. It's a very sad
    situation, and the burn pits
    victims so young. Will be
