-Nice image and presentation, Melissa.
-You wrote a very good poem with a good topic.
-Effective nature imagery captures the essence
of the "blue dawn mist" and the "loon's lonely despair."
-Their calls are haunting, especially on a large lake.
-Good luck in the contest.

A great entry in this 5/7/5 poetry contest, you've done a great job here. I love this revelation which doubles with the observation abilities to create metaphors which stretch ambiguously, well done, good luck, blessings Roy

Loons do have such a haunting call. I was particularly struck by the use of "despair" because it's a loaded emotional word instead of an audible sound. So you packed a lot into these 17 syllables. Best wishes in the contest!

What a sad poem about an early misty down where most creatures are still asleep except a few like this lonely loon. You did a great presentation, too.
Excellent.

Good job on this one, Melissa. We have an old camp on a small pond, and we often here the call of the loon through the early morning mist. It is a very haunting sound.

You have truly created a scene of haunting beauty and stillness with your words. You take right into the moment, inviting us to see and feel it, as a loon surely does. Beautiful.

Your few short words bring us to the water's edge early in the morning listening to the loon's call. The picture you have chosen is very effective.
Hope this does well in the contest.

This 5-7-5, Haunting Eches, has the proper formatting and allows the reader to hear the sounds that waft across the misty marsh and finds timpani in our souls.
