Actually, I wasn't shot, but I had the Korean War in mind and was thinking of "Pork Chop Hill" but used a WW2 song.

I guess those things about the characters in the Bible that we conpair ourselved to are recorded there for a reason and it the way we go about getting the answers to our own problems. Nicely written.

Hi Jim, this is a beautiful poem full of faith. You asked some hard questions, but we often must.
I like the unique way you used the term rendezvous in multiple situations.
The ending is so bittersweet.
Lovely job, my friend,
Rhonda

What a great response to the contest challenge! I liked how you looked at different cases in the Bible, of Job, Jonah, and Lazarus. Then you took us the two possible rendezvous possibilities for the narrator - either with his unit or with his loved ones in Heaven.
Best wishes in the contest!

This is a very poignant and thought-provoking entry. I like the biblical references being presented that apply so well to the situation.
At times, in precarious circumstances, we do not have time to think about any other thing but what is right before us; however, there are others times when our minds cause certain parts of our life to immediately flash before our eyes.
This excellent posting holds serious messages between the well-written lines. Best wishes, Lily

Thank you for sharing this writing prompt with us. Yes, I have wondered about Job, Jonah, and Lazurus, along with others. How many people were brought to Jesus because of these people? It makes us wonder. Thank you for music. I enjoyed listening.

I think if I saw a dead man walking or a man partially devoured by a fish, it would open my eyes. But, though one come back from the dead, many will not turn to Him.

Wow what a very powerful, thought-provoking story. I enjoyed the way you included different biblical characters throughout this very well written story. Good luck with this.

I can but imagine the terror and hopeful faith intermingled when one is in this combat situation... Your biblical references are right on. I've often wondered the very question you've voiced... Do other people change when exposed to miracles? My guess is yes...in big or small ways the Lord works through them and touches them. As for rendezvous? Absolutely!
There is life after this life...
Thanks for sharing!

I should have died a long time ago. Sounds like God has been good to both of us! I'm so glad you're in this world!
