I absolutely loved this story. It was inspiring, informative and just plain fun to read! I have always been amazed by the platypus. My grandson would love to have one as a pet. Thank you for sharing this. It should be a contender in the contest.

Hello June, Thank you for reading, I am glad you enjoyed it. Platypus are gentle animals but can't be transferred to another country, they are so fragile they will die. Happy Christmas June. Kay xx

Great story for the contest, Kay! I like how Charlie was healed of his cancer by simply being in Nature and helping a fellow creature, Annie, the platypus. Great info about the platypuses, too (Yes, I checked on a grammar site and it says the "platypi" is not correct.) But what I like best was that Charlie and his brother fought against the pollution which was hurting Annie and maybe even the cause of Charlie's cancer and both are healed and blessed!
Best wishes in the contest!

Platypi means group, and it was checked by Grammarly (spell checker) apart from that, many thanks for reading, and glad you enjoyed it. Blessings, Kay.
PS: I had a look online too, platypuses are the modern, and platypi is the acceptable Latin. :-) ZZZzzz.

I AM SO HAPPY FOR YOU! This poem truly brought tears to my eyes, and I am so beyond happy for the miracle that happened in your life. Sometimes, when we shift our focus away from our worries, and focus on the beauty of life instead, in this case nature and Annie, the platypus, strange things will happen that we just can't explain. I love this ð???

Good luck wishes regarding the contest entry, Aussie/ Kay. There is so much of the hidden world that remained out of sight. The naturopathic world means so much to me. A platypus that means so much to us is just another money spinner for fur. Sometimes it truly heals. Blessings n Hugs!!!

This is an amazing story beautifully told in which you balance a story of potentially heart-breaking news with the benefits that can be derived from immersing oneself in nature. The dialogue and poignancy in the beginning are excellently expressed but you excel in conveying the wonders of nature and how they can bring about healing powers about which we still know so little and are more inclined to believe that toxic chemicals are infinitely more powerful. A strong message of hope within a skilfully crafted story, perfectly fitting the brief! Well done, Kay, and good luck! Debbie

I loved this. I would never have thought of a doctor knocking on the door to someone's hospital-room.

I don't blame Charlie in the story for wanting to make the most of his freedom.

Great that you also used it to raise awareness of an issue you're passionate about.

You have posted another beautiful story, my friend. I love your close connection with the animals in your area of the world. That platypus in the photograph is precious!

I also like the the themes you are presenting here. Especially the protection of animals and their habitats. Your view of health improvement also has solid ground. We are what we do and eat, and some times nature takes a hand in helping us survive to do a better job of it.

Your authors note is shocking and sorrowful. Humanity is not always humane!
---------------
Just a side note to consider: The word THAT can drain energy from sentences. Also, it is good to stay in the present tense as much as possible.

For example, -- We lived just outside the city where I often sat beside the trickling stream that meandered through the forest.

It reads smoother to say: We live just outside the city where I often sit beside a trickling stream meandering through the forest.

I am always glad when I find out you posted something new.
:-) Lily

Hello, friend Lily, So glad you enjoyed my story. I couldn't put it in the first tense because this came from the past. Does that make sense? Love, Kay.

Well, Kay, you have made my morning!
What a delightful story of rebirth and hope.
I often write about Nature's healing power; she is a very loving and kind healer... as your story shows.
Much enjoyed!

Thank you for sharing!
Merry Christmas!

Good Morning in the snow! So pleased you liked my story. Chemo is poison and has little to cheer for. The story is based on a doco I watched; changed the names.. wanted to say physician heal thyself! Happy Christmas and we are still in heat waves (93F daily 100-year floods up north and a meter of rain up there overnight. Sigh... the weather is so bad the helicopters can't pick survivors off their rooftops! Australia is either a picnic or a feast. Love, Kay xx

That was such a lovely story, Kay, and how uplifting for people struggling with health issues. You have it down as Spiritual Non-Fiction, so I take it this is a true story? I hate it when nasty people do revolting things to animals. It's there world too. But more than that, it's the cruelty they apply to the poor creatures. I wish they could retaliate and do something similar to those monsters doing it. I loved the story, my friend. Well done and good luck in the contest. :)) Sandra xxx

Hello Mrs. Seagull, How are you flying? I based my story on a doco that was true. I have a photographic memory. Man has a lot to answer for and he will in time pay for what he has done to innocent animals. Thinking of you my dear friend. Keep your chin up and chest out. Glad you enjoyed my rendition. Much love and care, Kay xx

A beautiful story, Kay. It was a positive outcome all round, and I enjoyed the fact that you gave lots of information about the platypus. I have never heard of them being hunted but if that is so it is shameful and I hope it is illegal and people will be heavily fined for making or selling any products from platypi.
