The cadence and structure of this poem and effortless application of rhyme (things I struggle with) -- this alone would merit 6 stars. Beyond this, you reveal yourself to be a masterful observer of human beings. The poem's brevity, given what is a significant -- almost theological -- topic shows great command of words and insight. Well done!

Hello Rachelle,
what words of wisdom. We just aren't equipped to know what is in another person's heart. People have such diverse personalities and talents. I hate to say this, but I'm often guilty of judging by appearance, which is so unfair and foolish. Thanks for this reminder that we really don't know each other as we think we do. Well done gal. Congratulations on your All Time Best award.
Blessings,
Tom

This poem delivers a powerful message, by reminding us that each person has a story. You can't realize that story with a passing glance. Your poetic delivery was flawless, meaningful, and entertaining. As the black line is read the reader looks forward to the surprise and reveal of the red line. This is a clever presentation and your artwork intensifies the message.

Happy New Year, Rachelle,
This is a nice grouping of rhyming couplets that remind us that people are so much more than what they look. They can be the opposite in public than what they are in private. I like how you show the dichotomy by using different font colors.
Congrats on placing third in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy.
Have a great day.

Thanks for noticing my extra structuring with color. I had it all just in black-and-white at first, then started experimenting and liked the result. xo

No problem, Rachelle.

Very insightful and compassionate; love it! Still hoping at 87 someone will recognize I am an intellectual giant with a pygmy personality.
Extra sensitivity may be required to ferret me out.
I really do love this piece, all attempted kidding aside.

I remember having an urge to walk to the podium at our church and asking the members, "if God put you in charge of heavenly invitations in your hands, would they choose me? We don't really know the people around us,
I attend an early morning 5:30 am prayer morning, there are only half a dozen there, but there is an incredible closeness, I think we all yearn for closeness, come to think of it, you don't know me very well do you? This is brilliant, Blessings Roy
Suggestion : rotating his tyres.

AMEN!! You hit the nail on the head this with poem. I think it's fair to say that nothing is really as it seems. My husband, a forensic scientist for CID in the Army, retired, used to say: in each of us there are three persons, the public version, that everybody sees, the private version that only our family and closest friends see, and the secret version that only we know about, of God knows all. I enjoyed reading.

I love the contrasts in this poem, including the different colors of text and the picture. Great message here of getting to know people beyond the surface, and not judging on appearance. We can all use the reminder. Blessings & happy New Year. Carol

This is beautifully done, Rachelle, and there are buckets of truth.
I'm guessing we all have our skeletons, and whether they turn to dust in our closets or are revealed early on, they make us who we are internally and superficially.
As you express here so purposefully. No personality on this earth's simply skin deep. I loved this!

I really like this review. Thanks for giving it more than a passing thought. It's obvious, from all you wrote, that you really internalized it, and that makes me feel great. xo
