First, congratulations Grandma! I know you will be as good at being a grandmother as a mother who showed strength in helping her daughter. A beautiful baby boy who got here early to meet his mom and grandma.
Best wishes,
Mary

A beautiful miracle to see a child born and definitely one that brings tears to our eyes, let alone if accompanied by drama or trauma. I'm so pleased that everything turned out well in the end, Debi. Thanks for sharing. Debbie

This is a lovely poem, Debi, but the most interesting thing to me was your note at the end. How incredible that you trusted your instincts and potentially saved your daughter's and grandson's lives.
Poetically, I enjoyed your poem overall, and was particularly taken by the truth in the lines, "One day my status dropped below, The man who made my daughter glow." What a beautiful way of stating that.
My only hesitation with the poem is in the first verse. While the first two lines were fine, I felt the second two broke the flow. Beyond that, I thought it was smooth and rhymed well.

Michelle, thank you for your wonderful review and awesome feedback. This verse means a lot to me, but want it to flow well so I copied it and wrote a possible alternative on the side. Yet I am not sure I am happy with those, but I can't be objective as I have looked at it too long, and we all know what that can do to our heads. But I need it to be how I felt about the birth of my children. So that is why I would love your input.
The only births that I would see-
When I was in delivery--
A mom, my sweet babies made me -- My babies made a mom of me
Most special thing I?d ever be-------- And I am so thankful to be
Thanks so very much, Michelle, and I look forward to you telling me how it looks before I decide what to do with it. Debi

You're very welcome, Debi, and I'm flattered that you trust my input. I looked at your suggested edit, and wondered if you might want to turn the verse around a bit, i.e.:
When I was in delivery
My babies made a mom of me
And I realized, instantly
How great a thing that was to be.

You listened to the voice of the Almighty God, our Creator and Master Surgeon, and it saved your daughter and your grandson's life. I can't begin to imagine the joy and wonder of seeing your daughter give birth, or the joy of experiencing the love of your grandchildren. Your poem tellss a beautiful, heartwarming story.

Oh wow. It is a good thing you were there to take care of things!
I loved the form, and I'm right there with you - the only baby besides my own, that I saw born, is my granddaughter, Hailey. It was an amazing experience, and I was so proud of my daughter - and now Hailey and I have this amazing bond.
Thank you for sharing,

This is the pinnacle of your poems for me-so beautifully expressed-the birth of your grandchild. When my first one was born, they had to peel me away from the window where the nurses were giving her a bath. I thought, "My blood and Leon's flowing through her veins through our son's and his daughter's."

Verna, I understand the peeling away from the window and the awe of our blood flows thru this baby. He is now 20 years old and I will always have that special thing with him. With the oldest tho, I started my poem with the sentence, I fell in love the day you were born.

Since I have years on you ; ), My first grandchild is 40 and just had her long-wanted 2nd baby. Her first is 10. She is still treasured by me!

This is so cool, Verna. You must have been a child bride too. My kids are in their forties right now, but I do have two grands that are twenty. In fact Connor, the one I wrote about is the one I got to see.
