You have done a fantastic job committing your serious blood pressure ordeal to rhyme. We all sometimes do what we know we shouldn't do, but hope for a forgiving outcome. You are blessed to have a husband willing to shop to get the fruits and veggies you need. Hopefully, your BP never rises to those dangerous levels again. With all the health challenges you deal with, I am inspired by your positive attitude. With stress and food, please guard your 'plate.'

Oh Lorraine, you are so wonderfully sweet. Yeah, got a lot going on right now, and it looks like my lupus has taken over my already bad kidneys. Ugh, something called lupus nephritis. I had been on a kidney diet and I did leave it by the wayside from Thanksgiving, and now I am paying for it.
Will probably be starting dialysis soon. So I maybe should add one more stanza to warn people to not forget health diets during the holidays.
And thank you for the lovely comments and the generous six stars,
my dear earth Angel. Thanks for flying by. (big smile and hugs)

Good morning, Debi.... What an absolute feast! Yet, your words carry the whole truth and nothing but the truth. We join into the celebration and tell ourselves that just this once it won't matter, but it does. Then add in the other "family stresses" and extra overload and we do put our bodies in a terrible position. WEll written and I hope the other patients will read and think twice.
Hugs, Carol

Hi Carol, thank you so very much for such lovely comments for my health scare poem I wrote for my doctor. She was going to frame it and hang it on her office wall. Hopefully she has done that already and that it helps someone else who was supposed to stay on a diet like I had for my kidneys.
Cause now it is has caused more issues with my lupus and kidneys, so I hope it helps others before they do something so stupid.
. Thanks again, dear friend.

Hi Debi, I your poem helps but one person, that will be all the reward that you need. Your poem reads and flows well, and your message is clear.
Of note:
I knew I was a candidate for heart attack or stroke
But I'm not into politics and I'm too young to croak
(Every time that you get tempted, just remember the "croaking" part, and that should snap reality back into you.)
I hope your doctor likes your poem. Well done. Xo. M

Hi Margaret, she did love the poem and it should be on her office wall by now. But actually it was meant to be more of a punishment to me for not going in right away. Jokingly, of course! And now it maybe caused the lupus nephritis so I will never go off my kidney diet again. I promise, SIS!!
Thanks Sweetie for the fun, but serious comments and the lovely six stars!!
My kids are starting to talk to me again, so that is something going my way. Thanks again, dear SOTU!

So very true for all of us. And even with grandchildren's visit, we bring out all the foods that they love so that we go off our normal diet. If you want something sweet, eat a banana because it's high in potassium which draws the sodium out and helps with high sodium issues.
Great summary of the stress of holidays. You are doing amazing considering all that you're going through and yet writing to celebrate birthdays of everyone else!

You bet bananas are great and they are also better than those horse pill potassium supplements that they have me on. Glen found the best bananas and of course lots of other fruit and veggies for me when I was at the doctor, he did grocery shopping and stocked up so even tho I am not the biggest fruit eater, I am working hard at it. I do love bananas tho.
This has been a rough one, but I cannot sit around and do nothing, so I am thankful to be writing. I don't have time to think then. And as walking has become almost impossible. More therapy will be starting and once all the MRI results come in and rest of the labs, then we will know more what we are dealing with. However they do know that there was some damage to the kidneys. Once again, the strict kidney diet I was once on was ignored. And now I pay the consequences. I will email you a picture of what my legs and feet are doing now. Half of the time it is good news.
Thanks for the lovely review and comments, along with the generous six stars sweet sis and one of my very best friends ever. Love ya lots. Debi

Got your pics. Thanks!
Do you have a small cycling thing that is for knees only? You sit on a regular chair and you pedal on it. I got one for my mom and she uses it when she can't go out.
-
💖💖🙏🙏Hang in there. Praying it clears up soon.
-
Yes'm and I love it. It tells the story of my life, I peddle fast and long, but I never get anywhere. LOL
-
Lol. You're getting far on the spiritual roads we are on, Debi. That's what really counts. 💖💞🙏

a nice poem about how to deal with holiday stress useful words of advice for us all. I liked the cursive script, and the underlying message of resilience in the end

This is quite entertaining, but also very serious. With blood pressure that high, I'm glad you are still with us. Congratulations on having your poem framed and hung on your doctor's wall. I love the pun of your final line. Thanks for sharing this with us. Blessings. Carol

Carol, your sweet words mean the world to me. Not everyone mentioned that they caught the humor and the last line, so I appreciate that you did. Thank you for that. You made my day. Then I know that the people who read it in her office may get it. I appreciate so much your six stars too, my lovely friend.

I so enjoyed your poem. I wrote a poem for a physical therapist, and it's hanging on the wall of her office. I know how happy you will be to see yours on your doctor's wall. Have a blessed week, my friend.

That's something else. The doctor asking for your work to post . Present her with a staggering bill. Lol. Just kidding. This was a very funny poem about a not so funny medical situation. Gretchen

Hi Gretchen, I truly appreciate your fun comments for this poem for my doctor. I was worried that people wouldn't get the humor so thank you so much for that.
Sometimes we have to get pretty scared to make those needed changes in our lives.
And that I did, so hopefully I will remember for a very long time.
Thanks again, my sweet friend.
Love, Debi

Debi, This was scary, with your blood pressure through the roof. A good doctor to give you "homework" to show what you are doing to turn this around. You so impressed her, she wants other patients to see it.
Best wishes,
Mary

Strange. My fanstory on my computer will not let me type or login, but my iphone works. I have to figure it out.
Mary

Hi Mary, have you restarted or rebooted? Sometimes that fixes my problems. Maybe something you already do, but I had to ask. Debi
-
Yes, I have been trying for two days. It is weird, the only program that will not let me type. I tried to login and it will not let me type.
-
You know what, Mary? I dont use my computer, but I use my ipad. And a couple times my google search engine would not work for FanStory any longer, so I switched it to another one. My google works for everything else bit FS. Now I use either Google Chrome or Microsoft. There are many to try though, like Yahoo. Maybe worth a try because I had to try a few before I found one that worked.

I got is under a Norton site. strange

This is so true; we eat way too much and unhealthy food during the holidays and on top of that there's a lot of stress. We all need to work in those areas. Thank you for sharing this reminder for us. Maybe at the beginning of the holiday season you should repost it.
