Well actually, I really like the sound of your new hairstyle because short hair has always been my favourite style, especially if you're lucky enough to have thick hair that stand up like a thistle! That said, I can understand your concern after investing so much expectation into your hairdresser. Love his accent by the way (well mastered on your part). The whole story, of course, has your characteristic self-deprecating humour which is fun and always immensely readable from you. Truly, a joy to read. Would love to see a pic:)) Well done! Debbie

Debbie, you are so kind! Actually the hair dresser was a lovely woman from India - a good friend of my physical therapist. She said my haircutting in the back determined what she had to do. I just made up the part about the thistle. I am not that brave, and my hair isn't thick like it used to be.
Thank you for your many lovely comments!!

I think I'll stick with my own hairdresser. I'm glad I've never had such a bad experience with mine. Maybe this gal sells wigs on the side.
Sounds like she didn't do so well with the English language, either. Yes, it will grow out, or so she says. I went to a beauty school where the students practice on the patients to get my hair done many years ago, and had a bad experience. They forgot to use toner, so my hair was all frizzy. judi

Well, I don't have enough left to be frizzy. Grow, hair, grow!

This is by I hate going to the salon! Most hair dressers are scissor happy and take off far more than they promise, but I bet your hair does not look that bad. You made me smile with this post, love Dolly x x x

Hello Katharine,
Oh no! Did you go to this hair dresser because someone else recommended him? I suppose if you go out you could always wear a scarf, and there is the fact that the weather will be warming up soon down where you are, so maybe it won't be too bad- a little cooler. I had the opposite problem. I went to Great Clips last month for a haircut, but now I need another one. They just didn't take off enough. At the time I didn't realize it, so now it's going to cost more bucks. Rats. I don't trust Jan or I to try cutting it. I don't know what a skint is, but it must not be good. Great story telling gal.
Blessings,
Tom

    Thanks, Tom!
Too bad I'm not there to cut yours. Ha!
Skint is maybe Southern for skinned. and that's me!
Yep, recommended by a friend. Hair dresser was a she and I did say just a trim. Thing is, she was very nice, and I'm sure it's a good cut, and when it grows out, will be fine, but my word, it's short! It'll take months. I didn't mean to hurt her feelings, though.
Thanks for reading it. Things like this are why I quit going to the beauty parlor years ago.

Oh my goodness! I was afraid to read the ending. That's exactly why I haven't changed hair stylists in 30 years. lol But if that is your picture on the page, it seems to have grown out just wonderfully. Very nicely done with the story. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks, Marilyn. My picture was BEFORE the haircut which was just the other day. I have been cutting mine for years but have, on occasion, messed up the back, in a couple places, so decided to try again. Big mistake.
Thanks for reading and for your very nice comments.

I enjoyed this story. Sometimes it's the only way. When my son was five years old, he took scissors to his hair and whacked a huge chunk out of his bangs and several other places on his head. The only alternative was to cut it all off and let it grow back evenly.

You described the problem and the solution very well. As much of a shock as it might have been, it was probably the correct one.

thanks, Jim, for reading it and for your comments. I feel like I need a hat, but that would look as ridiculous as my non-hair. The waiting game begins.
