Soon our gardens will be enshrouded in white as the earth rests for a few months. It's a part of nature's cycle and helps us appreciate the next chapter when spring returns. Nice entry for the contest.

Thank you for your response--and the stars. I have always loved a snowbound, quiet day when all the work seems to pause and nap

Hi
This is good for the prompt. The words create an image of an area of pristine white snow before and marks are made in it. It also tells us what Winter is. A season of waiting.
Good luck in the contest.
Keep writing and stay healthy
Have a wonderful rest of your week.
Joan

Your description is perfect! When winter decides to visit, it brings a blanket of snow and silence -- covering us with peace and blessings. Have a great day!

I liked reading this snow-shrouded haiku. I kind of think you could tighten it by taking out the word 'and' in the first and second lines. Maybe say: Asleep, still, all white.
and instead of 'drear and' just say 'dreary' there.

Thank you for your thoughts. I will think on those changes--especially the first line. Again, thanks.

You've created a good, snow filled picture of a dreary winter's night in your haiku, and the reader certainly needs no picture to visualise it. Well done, and good luck in the contest.

I love looking out the window at the snow that even the birds have not yet marked. The utter quiet. I just write what I see. Thanks for your thoughts

The promises of winter. Your poem has a calming effect on the reader. It paints a picture of winter's plentitudes--a reminder to be thankful for the beauty winter brings. Thanks for sharing.

This poem makes me think of one word: stillness. It is also calming to read this poem. It describes a winter night very well. Good job with it. Thanks for sharing and happy writing!

Yes, stillness. Exactly. That is what I love about snow--the hush. Thank you for reading and understanding.

This is a lovely pictureless nature Haiku. Your words create the picture beautifully in my mind as I read. Thank you for sharing and best of luck in the contest.
